Today dental implants are the most talked about procedure in dentistry. Increased life expectancy means longer period of time one has to stay with no natural tooth.

Dental Implants are the best artificial teeth solution which is preferred choice of many people. They are far better than dentures or bridges but at the same time are costlier also.

1. Do you really need Dental Implants? Can there be some other way?

Find out from your dentist the best solution for missing tooth/teeth. Why implants are the best solution, other replacement solutions like bridges or dentures, can they be used.

There is difference between getting single tooth implant and replacing multiple teeth implants.

Your life stage also matters, if you are young, with good jaw bone, or  the missing teeth is visible, then it must be replaced with an Implants unless for some medical reason.

An old person habitual of using dentures or bridges may want to give dental implants a miss, which should be perfectly fine.

You are best judge of your situation, do not get influenced by trend or dentist.

2. I see advertisement for cheap implants are they true? or should I avoid them?

Dental Implants are costly initially but in the long run they prove to cheaper than other solutions.

Once you step in – besides implants cost – other costs like crown, x-ray, surgery are demanded. If, with all the costs added up it is still cheaper than than most in your market then  your must look at doctor’s qualification and experience. A qualified implantologist (someone with a 03 years masters degree – MDS, do NOT FALL FOR unrecognized short term courses from any foreign location) is your best bet for implants.

5. What are the contraindications to dental implants or tooth implants?

Absolute contraindications (where implants should be not be done) — cancer, mental diseases, diseases of blood, diseases of joints and bone tissue, tuberculosis, immune system disorders, inflammatory diseases of the oral mucosa, uncompensated diabetes mellitus, bruxism, HIV, endocrine disorders, allergic reactions to anesthesia.

Besides absolute contraindications to implant placement,  other situation where implants should be avoided – small distance to the nasal and maxillary sinuses,  insufficient quantity and quality of bone in the implant site.

Relative — situations that should be remedied or cured by the time of implant surgery is done. These include caries, gingivitis, periodontitis, presence of pathological occlusion, atrophic changes or defects in bone tissue, Smoking, pregnancy and lactation, the patient has cysts or acute purulent processes in the oral cavity.

As for Smoking, it is in principle easy to make compatible with implantation, as the smoker may reject the implant. Therefore, prior to surgery you must stop smoking for a period of 10 days to 2 weeks.

Pregnancy is not an absolute contraindication for implantation: the most important thing to do the surgery between 4 and 6 months of pregnancy to drugs used in anesthesia, should not cause harm to the developing fetus.

6. Can you trust the clinics that offer to teeth in a day?

In a day nothing gets done!

In the age of fast food and quick fixes, doing something quickly may not be advisable when your body is involved.
